Clarity of purpose,
clarity of understanding.
--Zen saying
This quote takes the opposite approach from what we usually consider
rational: first understand the situation, then decide what to do.
In doing so, this saying evokes the emotional truth we all have experienced.
Once we know what we want, things suddenly seem clarified.
Once we have a purpose, we have a perspective from which to view things,
a point of view... and from there things become clearer.
This is a reminder that we understand things better when we consciously
factor in where we stand - instead of just trying to understand a situation
from an abstract point of view.
