The driven life purpose: rick warren's "purpose driven life" outline

The Purpose Driven Life's first line is: "It's not about you."

What then is it about? Rick Warren's answer is:
"You are here for God."

What then is the "purpose" mentioned in the book's title? It is the drive to become "what God created you to be."

The book outlines what Rick Warren sees as our "five eternal purposes".

You were:
- "planned for God's pleasure"
- "formed for God's family"
- "created to become like Christ"
- "shaped for serving God"
- "made for a mission"

This book requires the active participation of its readers. Many of them join in Rick Warren's "40 Days of Purpose" evangelism campaigns, reading each day one of the book's 40 chapters as part of a renewed commitment to religious practice, and to applying Christian values in their life.

Despite the book's popularity, there have also been plenty of negative comments. What is wrong with the purpose driven life?

For one thing, it requires a set of beliefs that you may not share. In addition, it leads you to identify your life's purpose with a quest for God's will.

The Purpose Driven Life that Rick Warren writes about is a life that follows some preordained divine precepts. This need not be the case.

There are other ways to find your life's purpose. I personally look for ways to find meaning and purpose from inside out.
