Overcoming social anxiety & shyness |
|
|
When you suffer from shyness or social anxiety, it's as if you live inside a prison that limits your interactions as fiercely as any thick walls would. It doesn't have to be this way. A gentle and compassionate approach can help you find in yourself the resources to break free. Pushing too hard is counterproductive, as you have probably already experienced time and again. "Gentle" doesn't mean "too soft", either. There's no point in wallowing in excuses and, sadly, running away from challenges. It's about stretching your comfort zone, but doing so from a place where you're still comfortable enough to avail yourself of your own resources. In this way, the process itself feels empowering. It's not about pushing you to be somebody you're not (and can never be). It's about finding in yourself the authentic, connected person that you can be. |
